Friendship Traitorous

The traitorous deed of he so nigh
Confounds the soul, and wipes the chalk
Of lines of friendship writ o’er years
The stark and blank slate gray wiped clear
Like ash that’s swept from chilly hearth
No trace or mark of love so live
Of laughter coursed o’er glowing plate
Familiar love in wrinkled eyes
Where smiles told more than could a kiss
Yet this, a kiss has done the deed
A spectacle, without remorse
The kiss is color without light
And cold and stiff, inanimate
This kiss has traitorous rift in it
